Thurston, Moses (1721-1800)DARPI Vol 3 pg 2936 - Private for Massachusetts. Per DAR lineage books he enlisted 1775 in Capt. Reuben Dow's company, Col. William Prescott's regiment, New Hampshire militia. Per B Thurston he enlisted 2 days after the battle of Bunker Hill on June 19, 1775 in Captain Reuben Dow's Company and enlisted again June 1777 in Captain Daniel Emerson's company raised for the defense of Ticonderoga.

Per B Thurston was a private for a while and was 2nd lieutenant in company 5, Colonel Benjamin Bellow's regiment raised for the relief of Ticonderoga last of June 1777. General John Sullivan then "president" of New Hampshire gave Moses a commision as Colonel on March 9,1787.

Thurston, Phineas (1758-1796)Per B Thurston pg 119 " He was a soldier in the revolutionary war, was taken prisoner, sent to England, and nearly starved; compelled to eat the entrails of sheep boiled on coals which he said was the sweetest meat he ever ate. He was exchanged , and on his way home the vessel was wrecked in the bay of Biscay , and he was saved from starving again only by eating salt pork for several days with intense thirst. After he had served his tiem and come home he asked his siters to sing; They sang a new war song about the wrecked prisoners. He heard them with great emotion and when he could command his feelings , said 'I was one of those prisoners'. None of his family had known of his imprisonment.".

John Whitcomb's regiment. Service at Cambridge under Artemus Ward. Member of the committee of safety and correspondence; member of town committee for hiring soldiers for Continental army.
